Nikah Ceremony and a Seemingly Ordinary Question
Everything was going on as usual at a marriage ceremony in Quetta. But as soon as the topic of dowry came up, the atmosphere became a bit serious. The bride's family wanted to fix five to eight lakh rupees and five tolas of gold.
This was the moment when an ordinary marriage turned into an extraordinary event.
Father-in-law's Whisper – Hidden Wisdom
The father-in-law made the son-in-law sit next to him and asked softly:
"Son, tell me the truth… how much dowry can you easily pay?"
The son-in-law replied:
"Whatever you say, I agree. But to be honest, if I push too hard, I can give up to two lakhs."
Hearing this, the father-in-law told the marriage official in clear words:
"The dowry will be one lakh!"
The Question of Gold – The Sparkle of Intention Is More Valuable
Then the topic came to gold. The father-in-law asked:
"Son, what is the arrangement for gold?"
The son-in-law said:
"I have made two tolas. I will make the remaining three tolas gradually."
The father-in-law looked at the crowd and declared:
"The gold will be only two tolas!"
The Objection of Relatives – The World's View of Gold
The relatives got angry. Some criticized, and some mocked:
"Why did you agree to such a low dowry? Is the daughter worthless?"
But the father-in-law responded with words worthy of being written in golden letters:
A Wise Answer – The Honour of Bread, the Comfort of the Daughter
The father-in-law said very calmly:
"Today, if I ask him for whatever I want, he will give it to me.
But tomorrow, when he is overwhelmed by the burden of debt,
he will give my daughter half a loaf instead of a whole loaf."
"I want my daughter's home to run smoothly — not to be broken apart by show and pressure."
Reflection After Fifteen Years – The Result: A Respectable Relationship
Today, it has been fifteen years since that marriage.
The same son-in-law takes special care of his wife.
He not only respects her, but respects his father-in-law more than his own father.
The happiness of this family is based not on gold, but on truth, understanding, and love.
Conclusion: Relationships Are Not Built on Price, But on Sacrifice
This incident teaches us:
"If the dowry is low, the relationship does not weaken.
If the intention is pure, even a little becomes a lot."
And finally, it can be said:
"That decision of the father-in-law proved to be far more valuable than gold."
