A verse of the Quran, a secret and an experience

Master Fatimi Niya (may Allah have mercy on him) says:

A Verse of the Quran That Raised a Question in the Heart

Once, a saint of God said:
"One night, I was reciting the Quran until I came to this verse:

(إِنَّهُ يَرَاكُمْ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا تَرَوْنَهُمْ﴾

(Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 27)

The outward meaning was clear that Satan is one of the jinn, and 'jinn' means a hidden creature
but my heart told me that there was something deeper in this verse...
There was an inner meaning I could not yet grasp.

The Conflict of the Heart and a Spiritual State

While I was immersed in these thoughts, suddenly a strange world unfolded before me.
A spiritual state overcame me and Satan himself appeared before me!

Satan’s Challenge

As soon as Satan arrived, he said:
"I have come to argue with you. Get up, let’s talk!"

I thought to myself:
If I take the first step at his command, I will fall into his trap...
So I replied:
"No, I will not come... You come!"

Surprisingly, Satan despite all his arrogance and pride came to me.

Battle of Intellect and Philosophy

We then engaged in an intense philosophical and theological debate that lasted an entire hour.
I responded with complete logic and reasoning, and eventually, I defeated him.

I proudly said:
"Despite your great name, you lost to me!"

Satan’s Cunning

Satan smiled and replied:
"Sayyid Sahib! I only wanted to waste one hour of your life!"

Revealing the Inner Meaning

At that very moment, the spiritual state ended
but I immediately understood the inner meaning of the verse:

Satan attacks every person at their point of weakness.
He misleads some through arrogance,
others through endless debate,
some through pride in worship,
and others through the illusion of knowledge and philosophy.
His goal is simple: to waste your time, distract your attention, and lead you astray.

Conclusion:

Satan’s attack always comes from an “unseen path.”
He can misguide us even through our knowledge, worship, or good deeds
if we lack sincerity, awareness, and spiritual insight.
