The Secrets of Wudu – From the Blessed Tongue of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH & His Family)

The Holy Prophet (PBUH & His Family) said that behind every part of wudu (ablution) lies a secret and a message.

1. Washing the Face
When we wash the face in wudu, it is as if we are saying:
“O Lord! I wash away all the sins com mitted by this face so that I may stand before You with a purified countenance. And when I place my forehead upon the earth in prostration, it will be a forehead cleansed and pure.”

2. Washing the Hands
While washing the hands, the servant says:
“O Allah! I cleanse these hands of every slip and mistake they have committed. Now I desire that my hands be used only in obedience and righteous deeds.”

3. Wiping the Head (Masah of the Head)
As one wipes the head, one says in the heart:
“O Lord! I remove from my mind all false thoughts and vain desires. May my head remain only the center of Your remembrance and of truthful reflections.”

4. Wiping the Feet (Masah of the Feet)
While wiping the feet, the servant says:
“O Allah! Let these feet never walk toward sin and evil. I purify them so that they may only move toward goodness and Your pleasure.”

Thus, wudu is not merely a physical cleansing, but a spiritual covenant and pledge that a person will strive to keep their life purified from sins.
